For nearly 20 years, the Quey [“Kway”] Percussion Duo has dazzled audiences worldwide with their unmistakable style, having performed in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, China, France, Jordan, the UK, and extensively throughout the US. QPD holds the only full-time residency by a percussion duo in the US at the University of Delaware, and their focus on creating high-level social media video content has led to nearly 2 million views of their performances.
Their Park Avenue Concerts performance will showcase their virtuosity on an amazing variety of instruments, including standard percussion like marimba, vibraphone and drums, and a charming array of world instruments, toys and found objects, including spinning bells, Chinese cymbals, hammered guitars and metal plates. For these musicians, almost anything that can be used to make a sound is made an object of beauty and musical expression.
The music performed will explore global traditions from China, India and Latin America, and local music by the Quey percussionists Broscious and Koshinski as well as Park Avenue Concerts co-director Adam Silverman.
