Family First Friday: Celebrating Black History

Friday, February 3, 2023, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Black History Family Event at the PAC center

Be a ‘change maker’! You too can make the world a better place inspired by the
achievements and contributions of leaders like Harriet Tubman and Fredrick
Douglas to Martin Luther King Jr., Ketanji Brown Jackson and others. Connecting
the cultural heritage of the past and the present we’ll celebrate Black History
Month on Friday, February 3rd from 6 – 7:30 pm with special guest presentations.

Join educator, local historian, community activist and collector Twyla Simpkins,
founder/director of The Yes We Can Achievement & Cultural Center of Chester, who will share life affirming stories and videos of great American heroes ‘then and now’, and the accomplished West African drummer and teacher, Anssumane Silla, who will lead the audience in live music and dancing.

Young and old can design a square for a group quilt discovering it’s significance, view a doll display, get hands on playing a djembe and more. Learn about black history in this interactive enrichment program that expands our worldview, promotes family engagement, diversity and inclusion in our communities. Refreshments after the program.

Geared for families with kids 10 and younger. All ages welcome.

$15 suggested donation per family
