SUMMARY:The Grand Duke or the Statutory Duel
DESCRIPTION:Something Grand is coming to Wallingford! \nRose Valley Chorus and Orchestra\, a musical theater company\, will present The Grand Duke or The Statutory Duel\, the final collaboration between comedic-opera legends Gilbert and Sullivan opening October 31\, 2026. \nGilbert and Sullivan’s The Grand Duke or the Statutory Duel is filled with humor\, lively music\, surprising twists and plenty of confusion. This rarely performed comedy gives audiences a chance to enjoy one of the famous duo’s lesser-known shows. Rose Valley Chorus and Orchestra brings together talented local singers\, actors\, and musicians to delight audiences with this entertaining production. \nIn Gilbert and Sullivan’s ultimate collaboration\, a troupe of actors conspires to overthrow the unpopular and miserly Grand Duke. Things go awry when their plot is accidentally revealed\, prompting a series of disputes and political successions settled by “statutory” duel—an ingenious law that renders the legal death of the adversary who draws the lowest from a deck of cards. Hilarious entanglements\, including thwarted marriages and questionable legal contracts\, imbue this topsy-turvy comic opera with a wit and charm that only Gilbert and Sullivan can contrive. Never fear\, a lawyer solves the problem and all ends happily. \nAll performances are at Strath Haven Middle School\, 200 S. Providence Road\, Wallingford\, PA 19086. \nThis run includes two matinees on Saturdays\, October 31 and November 7 at  2 p.m. and one Saturday evening performance November 7 at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays\, November 1 and November 8 at 2 p.m.; and Wednesday\, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are general admission and good for any performance. Online tickets can be purchased at http://www.rvco.org/. Cash\, checks\, and online payments are also available at the door. \nFor other questions\, e-mail tickets@rvco.org or call us at 484-981-9108 \nMore Information

SUMMARY:Artist Talk & Reception for "Meredith Sellers: Window/Frame"
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Artist Talk and Exhibition Reception for “Meredith Sellers: Window/Frame” on Thursday\, November 5\, 4–7 p.m. on the College’s Marple Campus. This event is free\, open to the public and light refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is highly recommended for in-person attendees of the Artist Talk and required for streaming access. \nThe Art Gallery at Delaware County Community College is pleased to present “Meredith Sellers: Window/Frame” as its annual contemporary exhibition. “Window/Frame” showcases Sellers’ decade-long examination of the window as an artistic\, digital\, and physical space. European Renaissance artists compared paintings to windows through which viewers could perceive the world. Sellers connects this theory to its contemporary equivalent: the digital “windows” of smartphones. Within paintings sized to replicate specific windows from her daily life\, Sellers layers rectangles of art historical images\, news media\, and stock photography. These fragments float across each composition like pop-up ads\, recreating the glut of images that flood our social media feeds and Google searches. Just as our constant scrolling produces incidental comparisons\, Sellers invites her viewers to create imaginary dialogues between the seemingly unrelated references within her paintings. The resulting narratives connect twenty-first-century anxieties to historical precedents\, thereby collapsing the space between the various centuries under Sellers’ examination. \nArtist Talk: 4–5 p.m.\nLarge Auditorium | Academic Building | Streaming on Zoom | Registration highly recommended \nExhibition Reception to immediately follow in the\nArt Gallery. Light refreshments will be served. Open to the public. Free to attend. \nOn View: October 26–December 4\, 2026\nGallery Hours: Monday–Friday | 10 a.m.–5 p.m.\nClosed November 26 & 27\, 2026 \nThis exhibition is sponsored by the Communication\, Arts & Humanities Division. \nMore Information\nArt Gallery | Room 2305 | Academic Building | Marple Campus\n901 South Media Line Road\, Media\, PA 19063\n(Free parking is available in any of the general blue or yellow lots on campus.)
