SUMMARY:Antar Goodwin & The Faithful Sinners with special guest The Describers
DESCRIPTION:Antar Goodwin & The Faithful Sinners –  A Philadelphia-based roots and blues artist\, blends the grit of classic blues with the soul of Americana in his music. Before gaining recognition with his band\, Antar Goodwin & The Faithful Sinners\, he spent 15 years as a bassist in New York City’s vibrant music scene. During this time\, he served as a musical director\, co-writer\, performed\, and/or recorded with several national touring artists\, including Sting\, Lauryn Hill\, Wyclef Jean\, Bruce Katz\, Sean Chambers\, Ruth Brown\, Benny Golson\, and co-wrote the album “On My Way\,” which reached the Billboard top 10 twice and was featured on Blues Rock Review’s list of the Top 20 Albums of 2022. His raw honesty and emotional depth create a powerful invitation for listeners. With a deep well of storytelling and masterful guitar work\, Antar takes audiences on a journey of truth and transformation through his timeless sound. \nAntar and his band recently concluded the second leg of their UK tour in support of their 2024 album\, “The Game\,” recorded and produced by Ben Rice at Degraw Sound\, known for his collaborations with Joan Osborne\, Valerie June\, and Norah Jones. Upon their return\, Antar signed with Bigger Beast Records\, an artist-centric record label based in Connecticut. Building on the momentum of “The Game\,” Antar is eagerly anticipating the release of his new single in the first quarter of 2026 \nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \nThe Describers – Philly’s The Describers explore the dichotomy and absurdity of trying to pull yourself together as the world falls apart in their new album “No Worlds.” To Jason McGovern\, founder and leader of The Describers\, the album is as much a reckoning with personal “new worlds” as it is about “no worlds.” “No Worlds” was largely recorded and mixed in his home studio\, Eel Diner Jukebox\, though he also did significant work at Retro City Studios in Philadelphia and Kawari Sound in Wyncote\, PA\, with Matty Muir. \nMcGovern has been releasing music and performing as and with The Describers since 2018. He also collaborates with other artists in the Philadelphia area\, representing a wide range of styles\, most recently playing keyboards for The Tisburys. He also served as co-producer for their 2025 record “A Still Life Revisited.” \nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \nMore Information

SUMMARY:A Celebration of Black History with Sound and Sight
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Black History Month\, the Chamber Series of Delaware County Symphony is presenting a combination of theatrical performance with classical string quartet music on Sunday\, February 15 at 3:00 PM. Historical Interpreter and Educator\, Dr. Daisy Nelson-Century will bring Harriet Tubman to life with accompanying music by pioneering African American composer\, Florence Price. \nThe program unfolds in five theatrical acts; each paired with one movement from Price’s Five Folksongs in Counterpoint for String Quartet. Through this unique blend of storytelling and music\, audiences will experience the extraordinary courage of Harriet Tubman- born into slavery in Maryland\, later a Union spy during the Civil War\, and the heroic conductor of the Underground Railroad who helped free more than seventy enslaved people. \nFlorence Price (1887–1953) was an American composer\, pianist\, organist\, and educator whose work has gained renewed recognition in recent years. Educated at the New England Conservatory of Music and based in Chicago from 1927 onward\, Price composed Five Folksongs in Counterpoint in 1950. The work features the beloved folksongs; Calvary\, Clementine\, Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes\, Shortnin’ Bread\, and Swing Low\, Sweet Chariot. \nA Celebration of Black History with Sound and Sight will be presented on February 15 at 3:00 PM in Neumann University’s Meagher Theatre. \nTickets for the concert may be purchased at dcsmusic.org/tickets

This intimate program is curated and hosted by Visiting Assistant Professor Quinn Collins\, and takes place in the stunningly beautiful Lang Concert Hall.
