SUMMARY:Tri-County Concerts presents Avery Gagliano
DESCRIPTION:Tri-County Concerts is excited to open this season’s Emerging Artists Series with the amazing Avery Gagliano on October 4 at 3 pm at Main Line Unitarian Church\, performing piano works by Schumann\, Rzewski\, Kirchner\, and Fauré.  Avery first rose to international acclaim as the winner of the first prize and best concerto prize at the 2020 National Chopin Piano Competition.  She has since appeared on renowned concert stages\, at leading festivals\, with well-known chamber musicians\, and as a soloist with numerous orchestras\, as well as on broadcasts across the U.S. and Europe\, including on NPR’s From the Top and American Public Media’s Performance Today\, where she was a 2024 Young Artist in Residence.  Her concerts have been praised as “dazzling” (South Florida Classical Review) and “truly impressive” (Hyde Park Herald).  A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music\, where she studied with Robert McDonald\, Gary Graffman\, and Jonathan Biss\, Avery currently studies with Sir András Schiff at Kronberg Academy in Germany.  Post-concert Q&A and reception with the artist. \nMore Information

Tito arrives late\, and through a hilarious series of mishaps\, he is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out. \nHis pulse is so low that Saunders and his assistant Max believe he’s dead – and in a frantic attempt to salvage the evening\, Saunders persuades Max to get into Merelli’s costume and fool the audience into thinking he’s Il Stupendo. Max succeeds and lives up to his idol\, but Merelli regains consciousness and gets into the identical costume\, ready to perform. \nNow two opera singers are running around in the same costume and two women are running around in lingerie\, each thinking she is with Il Stupendo. DESCRIPTION:Imagine – it’s September 1934. \nSaunders\, the general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company\, is primed to welcome world-famous singer Tito Merelli\, known as Il Stupendo\, the greatest tenor of his generation\, to appear for one night only as the star of the opera. Tito arrives late\, and through a hilarious series of mishaps\, he is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out. \nHis pulse is so low that Saunders and his assistant Max believe he’s dead – and in a frantic attempt to salvage the evening\, Saunders persuades Max to get into Merelli’s costume and fool the audience into thinking he’s Il Stupendo. Max succeeds and lives up to his idol\, but Merelli regains consciousness and gets into the identical costume\, ready to perform. \nNow two opera singers are running around in the same costume and two women are running around in lingerie\, each thinking she is with Il Stupendo.
