DESCRIPTION:Beginner/Intermediate Level. \nIn this workshop\, students will be given a brief introduction to geologic processes that form our favorite faceted gemstones\, followed by a discussion of mineral physical and optical properties that help us identify gemstones\, and finally we will have a hands-on session using the most common diagnostic instruments to try to solve the mystery of the unknown gem.
