Talking the Delco Way: The Story Behind the Accent

Join Delaware County Historical Society (DCHS) on Oct. 14th for a virtual event highlighting the story behind the celebrated Delco accent!
FEATURING:
Susanne Sulby – dialect coach for HBO’s Mare of Easttown and Silver Linings Playbook. Susanne, a native of Bucks County, is an actress and vocal & dialect coach with a passion for learning about people and their collective voice. She will share experiences working on the show and training actors on the nuances of the Delco accent.
Professor Josef Fruehwald – Professor of Linguistics at the University of Kentucky. Josef earned his PhD in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania, where he did a published study on “100 Years of Language Change in Philadelphia. He is currently a lecturer in Sociolinguistics.
