The Art of Mexican Comics and Lucha Libre Masks

$10Happy Cinco de Mayo! Part tutorial, part Shop Talk, come learn about this unique genre in the comics landscape!
Dating back to the Aztecs, lucha libre, masks are colorfully designed to evoke the images of animals, gods, ancient heroes and other archetypes, whose identity the luchador takes on during a performance. While we won’t talk much about the wrestling ring, we will look at the designs and symmetry of these icons of Mexican culture. Then design our own
Illustrator Keville Bowen has themed six separate sessions that will help you refine your comic drawings and learn about comic genres from around the world (kid-friendly). Then try out his tips and tricks while chatting about your favorite series, characters and artists.
Wednesday afternoons in our Zoom Room. $10 for this workshop, $50 for the 6-part series of workshops. Great for kids 8 – 14.
