Lecture: Creating Beauty through Garden Adversity

Sunday, November 10, 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free
Nicole Juday

Co-Sponsored with Hardy Plant Society/Mid-Atlantic Group

Every gardener operates within constraints; poor soil, a steep grade, unfortunate drainage, and unsightly views are just a few factors that may impede the pursuit of a great garden. In this talk, author Nicole Juday will share creative solutions employed by the most talented gardeners in our region, using examples that appear in her book Private Gardens of Philadelphia, with photos by Rob Cardillo. Learn how some of the best gardens in our region work with their inherent limitations –rather than against them– with outstanding results.

Join us before the event for a tour of the Arboretum’s camellias in honor of our 95th anniversary. A reception with the opportunity to purchase Private Gardens of Philadelphia and book signing will follow the lecture.
