Friday Night Live: Dave Manley

NO refreshments will be served at this event but you are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. All ages welcome. Minors must be accompanied by an adult (Guests must be 21 to bring or consume alcohol).

For safety, please make every effort to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling the CAC office. Attendance is limited. SEATING:
Lawn seating- bring your own blanket or chairs. For safety, parties will be required to maintain 6 feet between themselves and another party from a separate household. We will spread out across the entire lawn, seating at pre-marked spots for safe distancing. Restrooms will be available in the building. Please wear your mask and sanitize your hands when entering the building. Sanitizer will be available at the entrance of the building. Please note that restroom access requires the use of stairs at the front entrance of the building.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED:
All attendees over the age of 2 must wear masks upon entry and at all times during the event unless eating or drinking. If masks are removed to eat and drink they must be put back on before moving from your seating area. If you are not able to wear a mask for health reasons, we recommend you do not attend the event.
PLEASE NOTE: In the case of poor weather, this event will be postponed. The rain date is the next day, Saturday, September 26th. In the case of postponement, tickets will be honored for the rain date. No refunds will be made in the case of a switch to the rain date.
ABOUT THE PERFORMER:
Dave Manley will be performing with an electric jazz trio featuriing Nimrod Speaks on bass and Khary Abdul-Shaheed on drums.
Dave Manley, Guitarist/Composer/Producer/Educator, has collaborated with major artists from the Neo-Soul, World, and Jazz genres in the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has toured and recorded with artists including: Herbie Hancock, Jill Scott, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Music Soul Child, Jeff Bradshaw, Carrol Riddick, Raheem Devaughn, Chiwoniso Maraire, Kindred The Family Soul, Dave Chappelle, and more.
Dave co-wrote the song “Still Here” on Jill Scott’s Words and Sounds Vol. One. He was featured in Jill Scott’s “Live In Paris” DVD and performed in Dave Chappelle’s “Block Party” movie. Dave has also performed on “The View”, “Ellen”, “The Tonight Show”, “Jimmy Kimmel”, “The Tavis Smiley Show”, and “The Today Show” in Philadelphia and New York. His early musical experiences include performing, in his native Detroit, with Dr. Morris Lawrence (prize pupil of Sidney Bechet) and his Afro Musicology big band. He also perf! ormed with members of the original Funk Brothers Motown House band. Dave perfected his musical chops while residing in Los Angeles, New York City, Dallas, and Philadelphia.
Upon arriving in Philly in the mid-nineties, Dave broke ground working with international Dj’s King Britt and Josh Wink. He taught Jazz Improvisation and private students, as an adjunct professor at Eastern University Music School, while touring and performing, for over 10 years. Dave continues to develop a fresh synthesis of musical styles from Jazz, Soul, Rock, Latin, and Electronica. His infectious energy is apparent in his live performances and recordings. Dave has also released the follow up to his first Deep Pm record, entitled Deep Pm II, featuring all new songs, plus inventive remakes of Jill Scott,! Sade, Steely Dan and Herbie Hancock classics.
