Origami is a craft you can take with you anywhere. It requires no equipment. There’s nothing to spill. It doesn’t make marks on clothes. Cleanup couldn’t be simpler. And the worst injury you risk is a papercut!
It’s quiet. It’s clean, Inexpensive and green,
Curriculum friendly, multimodal, and smart.
Not only that — It’s art!
In this course, we will begin with origami that’s considered simple. Simple, yes, and also clever. We will focus on best practices for making accurate creases and learning to read instructional diagrams. We will progress into more advanced folding and modular origami — easy to learn units that combine for a variety of geometric solids — tetrahedra, cubes, stellated octahedron: Geometry you can brag about.
Origami is fun to make and even more fun to show off to friends and family. But then what do you do with it? In these sessions we will explore and discover ways to enhance art projects with origami, create unique cards and gift boxes and useful personal items.
You’ll leave the class with new skills for learning even more advanced origami on your own.
