Chester Children’s Chorus Martin Luther King Jr. Concert
Saturday, January 13, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
FreeThe Chester Children’s Chorus (CCC) will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at a free performance at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Swarthmore College’s Lang Music Building.
This year’s performance will be followed by a public reception where artist Robert Shetterly will unveil a portrait of CCC Executive and Artistic Director John Alston. Shetterly, who founded the not-for-profit Americans Who Tell the Truth, has painted more than 250 portraits including those of John Brown, Bayard Rustin, and Ida B. Wells, which will also be on display at the concert.
What began in 2002 as Shetterly’s personal portrait project has evolved into a broad-based arts and education organization with a mission to foster and inspire a profound sense of citizenship.
More than 100 Chester children in grades 3-12 participate in the annual concert.
Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 3:15 p.m.
