Sculptural Embroidery (4 classes) – $100
**BOTH FOR $180**
Classes are held on Sunday Mar 8, 15, 22 & 29.
Everyday Weaving – 1:00-3:00pm
In this class, we will transform items, such as an old picture frame, into looms! Using everyday objects and yarn, you will learn to create your very own weaving! You could plan to create a larger scale piece that you work on every week, or make multiple small pieces. You could opt to follow a pattern or be free and loose with your design!
Be creative about what objects you bring in to weave with! Basic items such as an old picture frame, a fork or a wide-toothed comb, and an old ruler will be a great place to start! You can opt to search your home or a thrift store for objects, or pay for a small kit provided by the instructor! If you happen to have loads of yarn lying around, feel free to use that! Otherwise a small yarn kit can be bought. White wrap thread is included in admission costs, but if you’d like a color you’d need to purchase a material kit.
If you’ve ever thought about weaving but didn’t know where to start or if you’ve woven in the past but would like a refresher this would be a great class for you! All levels are welcome! Individual projects can adjusted depending on your level of experience!
Sculptural Embroidery – 3:30-5:30 pm
In this course you will learn traditional and new stitches that are used to create dimension. This could involve distorting the fabric, piecing or couching other materials onto the fabric, or using a traditional stitch that’s focus is to add dimension. You may treat this course as a survey course to learn new stitches and experiment with fabric manipulation, or spend every class working on a designed piece of embroidery art.
All levels are welcome. Beginner stitches will be taught in addition to the more complex stitches.
